Chestatee River
Situated near three North Georgia Rivers, Achasta members will enjoy the great outdoors along the banks of the Chestatee, Chattahoochee and Etowah. Relax the day away drifting downstream in a tube or trout fishing in your favorite spot. Take an adventurous trip down river rapids in a canoe, kayak or raft with friends. Prepare a picnic and spend the day with family in a beautiful natural setting at one of the many river parks. For a change of scenery, take a short drive to Lake Lanier for a day of leisure – just a 10-minute drive to the boat ramp and only 20 minutes to the Marina.

Achasta currently has over three and a half miles of maintained walking trails for members to enjoy, with plans for additional trails in the works. Located within a 30-minute drive, is the start of the Appalachian National Scenic Trail, the nation’s longest marked footpath winding through 14 states.

Other nearby walking trails, biking paths and campsites include Raven Cliffs, DeSoto Falls, Anna Ruby and trails within Amicalola Falls State Park and the Chattahoochee National Forest, among many others.

From hummingbirds surveying the native wildflowers to young fawns frolicking, Achasta is a Certified Audobon Cooperative Sanctuary and is home to an abundant array of wildlife to observe and enjoy.

Nature lovers will also admire the flora and fauna at the nearby Chestatee Wildlife Preserve, offering visitors a chance to see and interact with over 100 species of animals and exotic wildlife. Avid hunters can shoot sporting clays or hunt a variety of wild game at the Etowah Valley Game Preserve & Sporting Clays.
